OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 04/19/2025, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop E attempted a traffic stop on a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee on Louisiana Highway 498. The driver refused to stop, and police escalated a chase. The trooper lost sight of the vehicle, and nearly 50 minutes later it was found down an embankment and partially submerged in a bayou near Powell Lane. Passenger Aaron Watson, 33, of Amite, was unrestrained and suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, Brandon Wright, 30, of Pineville, was also killed in the crash.
