On 06/14/2025 at approximately 3:30 a.m., Pierce County deputies observed a vehicle traveling at high speed and driving recklessly in multiple lanes. A pursuit began, and as the vehicle approached the Roy Y at State Route 507 and Pacific Avenue South, the driver failed to make a turn and crashed into the Park-and-Ride. Firefighters extricated two occupants, while David Holmes, a passenger, was declared dead at the scene. The driver and another passenger were hospitalized, their conditions undisclosed.
