On 09/28/2025, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Hayer Drive in Painesville Township after reports of gunfire. A SWAT team surrounded the residence and attempted negotiations. When officers entered the home, they found a man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. One dog was also killed during the incident.
