OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On September 28, 2025, Wharton County deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a disturbance at a residence. Upon arrival, deputies encountered Theodore Speaker, who allegedly pointed a firearm at one of the responding deputies. A deputy opened fire, striking Speaker. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries. The Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting.
