OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On October 2, 2025, law enforcement engaged in a vehicle pursuit beginning in Hitchcock, traveling toward Galveston. The chase extended across Pelican Island and ended near Seawolf Park. The pursued driver exited the vehicle and reportedly fired shots at officers. Negotiations occurred for roughly 20 minutes, during which officers asked him to drop his weapon. When the suspect allegedly pointed a handgun at officers, a police officer fired, fatally striking him. The man was transported to University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where he was pronounced dead. The Texas Rangers will lead the investigation.
