On October 5, 2025, two deputies in DeKalb County attempted to serve a court-ordered warrant on 48-year-old Gary Ray Ashford of Goodner Lane in Alexandria. During the arrest, Ashford allegedly produced a weapon and advanced toward the deputies, who then shot him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
