On October 4, 2025, the Gladstone Police Department was involved in a pursuit of a wrong-way driver traveling northbound on I-29 near Vivion Road. The driver continued at high speed and crashed head-on into another vehicle between Vivion Road and U.S. 169. One person in the struck vehicle was killed, and multiple others were injured. The wrong-way driver, who was the subject of the pursuit, was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
