On 10/10/2025, Baytown Police attempted to stop a BMW traveling at a high rate of speed on State Highway 146. The driver refused to stop, and officers escalated a chase. The vehicle crashed head-on near Crystal Boulevard, and the male driver was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Two occupants in the other vehicle, a man and a woman, were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
