On 10/11/2025, an off-duty Atlanta police officer working a security detail at a Buckhead bar encountered 44-year-old Linton Blackwell near Cains Hill Place Northwest and Irby Avenue Northwest. The officer reportedly ordered Blackwell to show his hands after seeing him reach toward his back. The officer opened fire, killing him at the scene. A handgun was recovered. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation.
