On 10/15/2025, around 9:25 a.m., a Pierce County deputy attempted to stop a driver wanted on a felony warrant near 112th Street South and Ainsworth Avenue South in Parkland. The driver refused to stop, and deputies escalated a chase. The vehicle ran a red light and struck another car in the intersection, killing the woman driving that vehicle. The man fled on foot but was captured nearby. The Washington State Patrol is conducting the investigation.
