On 10/13/2025, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper attempted to stop a motorcyclist for reckless driving in the Yamato Road / Technology Way area. The motorcyclist fled and was tracked by aerial units. The pursuit ended at a plaza, where the driver produced a firearm and shot himself in the head. He was transported to Broward North Hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.
