OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 10/05/2025, an officer driving to begin his shift in Madisonville saw several people standing around a truck at the intersection of New Highway 68 and Turnpike Road. The officer stopped and instructed the driver, 62-year-old Michael Ray Stice, to put the vehicle in park. After additional officers arrived, police said Stice attempted to flee on foot. Officers tased him three times and struggled to handcuff him. Once restrained, they noticed he had turned blue. Stice was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation.
