OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
An officer with the North Augusta Department of Public Safety observed a motorcycle travelling 83 mph in a 40 mph zone on Edgefield Road around 8:30 p.m. The officer initiated a traffic stop and then police escalated a chase. The motorcycle reached speeds in excess of 100 mph. The rider swerved to avoid a vehicle near Belvedere-Clearwater Road, lost control, and was ejected from the 2013 Harley-Davidson. Walker was transported to Wellstar MCG Health where he died at 11:03 p.m. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
