OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On October 22, 2025, officers from the Kansas City Police Department responded to North Kansas City Hospital, where police had engaged a detained man in an altercation during a confrontation with police and hospital security. The man reportedly bit an officer and tried to grab their weapon. Police restrained him and returned him to his hospital room under supervision. Less than two hours later, he was found unresponsive and pronounced dead. The Kansas City Police Department is investigating the incident.
