OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On March 25, 2025, an Arkansas State Police trooper observed a pickup truck commit a traffic violation on Interstate 40 in Lonoke County. The truck fled at a high speed (reported over 120 mph and driving on the shoulder) and was pursued by the trooper for approximately 18 miles. The chase ended when the trooper executed a PIT maneuver near Hazen; the truck flipped into a ditch and ejected several passengers. Laterrika Woods, age 29 of Memphis, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger was critically injured and transported to the hospital. The state police investigation into the crash is ongoing.
