OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On October 22, 2025, around 6:10 p.m., officers from the Cobb County Police Department responded to reports of a hit-and-run and located Timothy Lyle Sheats walking in the roadway. According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), Sheats told an officer he had been shot, though no visible injuries were observed. The officer asked him to get into his patrol car for safety; Sheats refused and began walking into traffic, at one point attempting to enter a passing vehicle. The officer then deployed a taser. Sheats became unresponsive and was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The GBI is investigating, and once complete the case will be referred to the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office for review.
