On October 30, 2025, at approximately 6:41 p.m., an on-duty officer from the Memphis Police Department struck a pedestrian while driving a squad car at the intersection of Park Avenue and Getwell Road near the University of Memphis. The pedestrian was transported to a hospital with critical injuries and later died. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is conducting the investigation.
