OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 11/04/2025, Dallas police closed the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 near St. Augustine Road after a driver stopped on the shoulder and refused to exit the vehicle. SWAT officers were called to the scene and engaged in a prolonged standoff. As tactical units approached, the driver produced a firearm and shot themself inside the vehicle. The person died at the scene.
