On 10/21/2025, a 17-year-old boy named Malaki Montgomery died by suicide after taking a firearm from an off-duty Tulsa Police Department officer during an archery class at the Tulsa Boys’ Home. The boy retrieved the weapon from the officer’s holster and shot himself in the gym where the session was taking place. The incident is being investigated by the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office.
