On 08/03/2023, at approximately 4:39 a.m., Cameron Webster Sr. was at the QuikTrip gas station at 17355 Torrence Avenue in Lansing when a group of armed individuals attempted to rob a customer at the gas pumps. During the attempted robbery, Webster was shot. Responding officers pronounced him dead at the scene. The Lansing Police Department and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force investigated the homicide. Webster's family said he was an off-duty security guard who was on his way to work when he was killed.
