OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 11/17/2025, deputies from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office were investigating a reported disturbance near the Walker area. Deputies approached a man walking on the 8000 block of Onigum Road Northwest. During the encounter the man fired a gun at a deputy, injuring him. Deputies returned fire. The man fled into a wooded area where law enforcement located him with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is conducting an independent investigation.
