On 11/23/2025, police attempted a traffic stop near the Buena Vista Street onramp to Interstate 5. A passenger left the vehicle and continued moving away from officers toward a nearby neighborhood. A police dog located the man. Police reported that the man fired and killed the dog. Officers surrounded the area as the man continued firing toward police vehicles, and officers opened fire and killed him.
