On 11/22/2025, Montana Highway Patrol attempted a traffic stop on a suspected impaired driver who continued driving. Police escalated a high-speed chase along Lake Helena Drive. The vehicle failed to make the turn at Old Highway 12 and crashed through a fence and into a home. A 69-year-old woman in her bedroom was struck and killed. A 76-year-old man in the home was injured. The driver was taken into custody.
