OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 11/24/2025, deputies in Hillsboro conducted a welfare check at a home on Hill County Road 4243. At the front door, the man they were checking on was reported to have drawn a handgun. An exchange of gunfire followed. Additional deputies arrived and more shots were fired. The man was struck and died from his wounds. One deputy received minor injuries and was treated at the scene. State investigators are reviewing the shooting.
