On 11/23/2025, officers from multiple agencies located Jaja Davis Jr on County Road 278 in Salem after accusing him of firing into an Opelika patrol car earlier that day. Police blocked the roadway and confronted him near a wooded area. Officers said Davis held a firearm during the encounter and they opened fire, killing him at the scene. Community members gathered afterward and said police used excessive force and denied them access to view the body. The investigation is being handled by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
