OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 12/01/2025, police escalated a chase that began in Penn Township in Butler County and continued across multiple roads toward Interstate 279. The white sport utility vehicle involved contained four occupants. Police chased the vehicle through several streets at high speeds. The vehicle crashed on Interstate 279 Southbound and rolled off the roadway. Officers discharged their weapons after the crash. Devin Russell, a passenger in the vehicle, was critically injured and pronounced dead at the hospital. Three other passengers were injured. The Pennsylvania State Police are conducting the investigation.
