On 12/07/2025, officers in Dixon found a vehicle stopped in the roadway with the driver unresponsive. When officers attempted contact, the man drove onto Interstate 80 and exited near Sievers Road where he stopped again. He stepped out of the vehicle holding what appeared to be a handgun. The object was later identified as a BB gun. Officers stated that he raised the object toward them and a Dixon officer opened fire. He was taken to a hospital and died. No personal details about the man have been released.
