OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 12/09/2025, Michigan State Police troopers went to a residence on Denhoff Road in Koylton Township to take a 54 year old man into custody under a court authorized mental health order. During the encounter, the man was inside a vehicle when the situation escalated and police opened fire. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A Michigan State Police sergeant was shot in the hand during the incident and later released from the hospital. The Michigan State Police Investigative Response Team and Crime Lab are conducting the investigation.
