OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 12/11/2025, Brandon Whitlock died after being shot by law enforcement following a pursuit on Highway 13 in Morton, Mississippi. Deputies and officers responded to reports of a man attempting to enter vehicles at a business location. Whitlock drove away in a yard truck, and police escalated a chase. During the pursuit, the vehicle struck a cement truck, another vehicle, and a school bus carrying students and a driver. After the collisions, officers opened fire, striking Whitlock. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation into the shooting.
