OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/25/2021 officers in Rutland responded to a hit-and-run crash and located the involved vehicle. The driver fled, crashed into a UPS truck near Allen Street, then entered a McDonald’s. Corporal Christopher A. Rose entered the restroom area chasing the driver. The driver exited a stall holding a cellphone which the officer believed was a weapon. The officer fired his duty weapon striking Jonathan Daniel Mansilla who died at the scene.
