On 10/18/2025, a Byram Police Department officer attempted to stop a vehicle connected to a theft. The driver refused to stop and police escalated a chase north on Interstate 55 into Jackson at very high speed. The driver ran a red light at Raymond Road and Robinson Road Extension and crashed into a Nissan carrying Shali Davenport who died at the scene.
