On 12/15/2025, Riverside County sheriff’s deputies responded shortly after midnight to reports of a residential fire at a home in Moreno Valley. Authorities reported that the fire was intentionally set. Deputies located a man outside the residence during the response. During the encounter, the situation escalated and deputies opened fire, striking the man. He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department stated the incident remains under investigation.
