On 12/15/2025, a Maury County Sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a man in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee, during a law enforcement response. According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the encounter escalated after the man produced a firearm during contact with the deputy. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The deputy involved was not injured. As is standard procedure, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation into the shooting on behalf of the district attorney.
