On 12/15/2025, Illinois State Police located a vehicle on Interstate 80 near Princeton that was connected to a homicide investigation in Wisconsin. Troopers attempted a traffic stop, which did not result in an immediate arrest. After the vehicle came to a stop near the Great Sauk Trail Rest Area, officers approached and found the driver deceased inside the vehicle. Authorities reported the individual died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound while police were present. The Bureau County State’s Attorney’s Office is assisting with the investigation into the death.
