On 12/15/2025, police attempted to stop a vehicle in Milam County they felt may have been connected to earlier police activity. Police escalated a chase but allege that at an unknown point, they called off the chase but admit that officers “continued searching” for the car until they found it. It is unknown where the chase was abandoned and how much later and at what point, the crashed vehicle was found but police claim they came upon the car crashed on County Road 464 near County Road 430 and state that the driver lost control, left the roadway, struck a tree, and the vehicle split in half and caught fire. It is unknown how police determined that immediately after the crash while claiming not to have chased or witnessed the event. Sirvaugh Markell Rougeau was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. The crash followed multiple police chases involving different agencies earlier that day. The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the story.
