On 12/04/2025, Vicksburg police arrived on Bazinsky Road to execute a warrant connected to attempted vehicle burglaries and shots fired at a police vehicle. Officers encountered 17-year-old Amarion Thomas. Police reported he pulled a gun and the situation escalated. Officers opened fire and killed him. A grand jury later cleared the officer involved.
