On 12/22/2025, an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper was assisting a disabled semi on westbound Interstate 40 near Choctaw Road when a pickup truck struck the trooper’s patrol vehicle from behind. The trooper was inside the patrol unit at the time of the collision. The pickup truck driver was transported to a hospital and later died from injuries sustained in the crash. The trooper was also hospitalized and later released. State authorities are investigating the circumstances of the collision.
