OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 12/22/2025, LeRoy police identified a vehicle they described as suspicious near several gas stations late in the evening. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle on Interstate 74 near the LeRoy exit. During the interaction, an officer was injured when the vehicle moved while the officer was positioned at the driver’s door. The driver continued driving and a multi jurisdiction pursuit followed through McLean and surrounding counties with assistance from Illinois State Police. The man was later taken into police custody and experienced a medical emergency. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after midnight. The cause of death has not been released, and an investigation remains ongoing.
