On 12/27/2025, Mariah Cardona, 44, was found dead inside a home on Cooledge Avenue NE near Piedmont Park during a police welfare check. She was found together with Atlanta Police Department investigator Kevin Stroner, who was also found dead at the scene. Both individuals were found with gunshot wounds. Police described the incident as isolated and said they are not looking for any other individuals in connection with the deaths.
