On 12/24/2025, Brentwood police conducted a traffic stop at Balfour Road and Foothill Drive for possible DUI. While speaking with the driver, officers stated they developed probable cause to search the vehicle and reported finding a loaded rifle inside. When officers attempted to arrest Romaine Morgan, police alleged that he physically resisted and did not follow verbal commands. Police stated that Morgan then reached for the firearm. Officers opened fire and shot him. Morgan was pronounced dead. The incident remains under investigation.
