OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 12/26/2025, Harlingen police and police in Combes initiated a vehicle pursuit involving Andres Arizmendi, whom police described as wanted on felony charges tied to an alleged aggravated assault with a deadly weapon reported the day before involving a family member. Police said Arizmendi continued driving into Harlingen, where the pursuit ended near the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Business 77. Police said after the vehicle stopped, Arizmendi got out and fired shots toward officers and deputies, and officers opened fire, striking him. Police said he was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Texas Rangers are investigating.
