Event : Motorcycle driver killed by police chase crash

On the morning of December 31, 2025, a high-speed motorcycle pursuit involving Georgia State Patrol troopers and assistance from deputies with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office ended in a fatal crash on Interstate 20 near Grovetown, Georgia. The motorcyclist did not stop when initially signaled by troopers near mile marker 196, fled westbound, and then crossed back into the eastbound lanes near exit 190. Troopers eventually discontinued active pursuit due to traffic concerns but later encountered the crashed motorcycle — which was fully engulfed in flames. The rider was pronounced dead at the scene.
