OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 12/30/2025, a 30-year-old man was killed in an officer-involved shooting in Eaton Rapids, Michigan after an attempted traffic stop turned into a pursuit. An Eaton Rapids police officer attempted to stop a vehicle on South Main Street just before 10 p.m., but the vehicle fled and crashed at the intersection of North Main Street and Canal Street. The driver exited the vehicle and ran from police, and during the foot pursuit he reportedly told officers he had a gun and refused to obey commands. An officer then fired their weapon, striking the suspect, who was taken to Eaton Rapids Medical Center and pronounced dead. A female passenger was located a few blocks away. The involved officer has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation by the Michigan State Police.
