Matthew Johnson was allegedly waving a gun around and was shot and killed by police. Very little about the circumstances was revealed. Omaha PD allege this was a “suicide by cop” but neither police nor family provided no indication that the man had been suicidal. The claim of “suicide by cop” is a popular theme with police trying to explain their homicides which is also very often contradicted by the details of a case. Nothing except a subjective statement by police that they assume Johnson wanted them to kill him has been provided by police. He was the father of 3 children and had a family.
