OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 01/11/2026, a man was killed by police in Greenville after an early morning shooting outside the Greenville County Law Enforcement Center. Police said the man fired multiple shots at a patrol vehicle parked in the lot. Officers later located the vehicle believed to be involved and attempted to stop it. The encounter escalated near Independence Boulevard and Ponders Ray Lane, where officers opened fire and killed the man. Authorities have not released the man’s identity. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is conducting an independent investigation.
