On 04/05/2021, New York City police shot and killed 55 year old Abdou Jallow during an evening police encounter in the Bronx. Police were conducting a traffic stop near East 166th Street and Findlay Avenue when officers reported hearing gunshots nearby. Police pursued two men they said were fleeing the area. During the pursuit, police opened fire. Jallow, who was not involved in the police encounter, was struck by police gunfire and fatally wounded. Witnesses and family members said Jallow was a neighborhood resident who had been returning home after praying at a local mosque when he was shot.
