On 04/08/2021, 20 year old Zaydin J. Dudra was killed in a head-on crash on Illinois Route 48 near East 1550 North Road outside Taylorville. Dudra was a passenger in a vehicle traveling on the highway when an off-duty United States Capitol Police investigator crossed the center line and struck the vehicle head on. Dudra suffered fatal injuries and died as a result of the collision. The off-duty officer was arrested. Reporting states the off-duty Capitol Police investigator was under the influence of alcohol and later pleaded guilty to aggravated DUI. was charged and pleaded guilty to aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol. In August 2023, a Christian County judge sentenced Hodson to 18 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, to be served at 85%, followed by 18 months of mandatory supervised release. He began serving that sentence immediately and is eligible for release around 2038.
