OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 04/10/2021, Salt Lake City police shot and killed 31 year old Joshua Michael Johnson during an encounter outside the Salt Lake County Jail complex. Around 10:30 a.m., deputies working near the front of the sheriff’s office made contact with Johnson. During the encounter, deputies opened fire and killed him at the scene. Both deputies involved were injured during the incident. The Salt Lake County District Attorney later reviewed the shooting and ruled it justified. No officers were charged.
