OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 05/19/2021, Denver police officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the area of South Federal Boulevard and West Harvard Avenue in Denver. Upon arrival, officers encountered Raul Rosas-Carsosa, who was reported to be armed with a knife. Officers repeatedly ordered Rosas-Carsosa to drop the knife and attempted to stop him with non-lethal methods, deploying pepper balls and a taser. When Rosas-Carsosa continued to advance toward the officers while armed, one officer fired multiple shots, fatally wounding him. The Denver District Attorney later reviewed the incident and concluded that the officer’s use of deadly force was legally justified. No officers were charged.
