On 06/24/2021, Forsyth County sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call from a woman requesting help at a residence on Dahlonega Highway. Upon arrival, deputies reported hearing gunfire. Deputies located Yonatan Aguilera at the scene. According to reporting, Aguilera pointed a firearm and fired in the direction of a woman. A deputy engaged Aguilera and opened fire, shooting him multiple times. Aguilera was killed at the scene. He was 40 years old. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation opened an investigation into the deputy shooting, which was reported as pending at the time of coverage.
